The Arizona Cardinals' running back room has been a major topic of discussion among the fantasy football community.
Once James Conner (foot) and Trey Benson (knee) both hit the injured reserve, there was a lot of uncertainty around who would take the lead role. Over the past two weeks, the Cardinals have relied primarily on two running backs, which makes this depth chart challenging to trust.

Michael Carter Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
In their first contest without Benson, Carter was given the lead role. During the loss to the Tennessee Titans, the former New York Jet dominated the backfield, logging 18 carries for 51 yards and a score. Through the air, he caught all five of his targets for an additional 22 yards.
In this contest, the logged 57% of the snaps and appeared to be a potential RB2 for the foreseeable future until Benson returns.
However, shortly before their game against the Colts on Sunday afternoon, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Cardinals would turn to Knight to lead the rushing attack. As a result, Carter took just nine carries in this game but remained involved in the passing game, seeing five targets.

Bam Knight Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
In Week 5, Knight was the clear No. 2 to Carter, but still produced on his opportunities, taking four carries for 11 yards and a score. However, as mentioned above, Knight jumped into the lead role this past weekend and was quite productive.
During their loss to the Colts on Sunday, Knight took 11 carries and added 34 yards and punched in his second rushing score in the same number of games. Through the air, he caught one of his two targets from 20 yards.
While Knight did not dominate the workload and operated more in a timeshare with Carter, he appears to be the favorite in the red zone, which is important to note for his fantasy outlook.

Should I Pickup Bam Knight or Michael Carter For Fantasy Football?
While this backfield appears to be trending toward a split committee, I would give the slight edge to Knight. Seeing Knight not only get promoted to the top spot on the depth chart recently but also punch in two red zone carries in back-to-back games gives him the ever-so-slight edge over Carter.
Knight should carry a higher floor based on his ability to see more rushing attempts and take the high-value touches in the red zone. However, Carter will likely continue to hold low-end FLEX upside in PPR formats given that he has seen at least five targets in the past two games when Conner and Benson were sidelined.
However, given this split backfield, both running backs will limit each other's ceiling and make them no more than low-end FLEX plays in a difficult Week 7 matchup, facing a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest PPR points to opposing RBs this season.
