The New Chicago Bears' running back, D'Andre Swift, has disappointed massively through two games of the season. Drafted to be a high-end RB2 with RB1 potential, Swift has failed to deliver for fantasy managers.

Swift has not cracked double-digit PPR fantasy points in either of his first two games (starting to notice a pattern with Bears players?) and is averaging a meager 2.0 yards per carry through two contests.

Should I Drop D'Andre Swift in Fantasy Football?

No. As miserable as it is to own players like Swift, his current role in the Bears backfield is too valuable to let go of in case the Bears turn it around at some point in the season. Swift saw 70% and 66% of the snaps on offense in Weeks 1 and 2 and had 18 touches in the game against the Texans.

The Bears will need to make some big improvements on offense, specifically with their run blocking, for Swift to succeed. Either that, or he will need to receive plenty of dump-offs and checkdowns in the passing game. Swift has the skill set to succeed here, so it's encouraging that he received five targets in Week 2.

The run blocking is the crux of the problem for the Bears. The offensive line is clearly not in sync, or just plain bad. The coaching might be leaving a lot to be desired as well. Swift will have to rely on the organization to fix itself, but if it does, better days could be ahead.

That being said, it's not an uncommon sight in today's NFL to see offenses remain anemic for entire seasons with no reprieve. 2023 saw the Bears (go figure) have one of the worst offenses in the league. If Williams doesn't take strides, opposing defenses will continue to key in on the run, limiting Swift's upside massively.

Who Should I Pickup in Week 3 Fantasy Football?

Waivers are mostly barren at running back so far this season. There are typically no RBs with the kind of snap share and role Swift has on waivers though, and no one projected to take on roles like that unless a team's lead back suffers an injury and misses time.

Cleveland Browns running back D'Onta Foreman is slated to have an increased role with fellow RB Pierre Strong Jr. set to miss time due to injury, but Browns current starting RB Jerome Ford could also see a bigger workload and nullify Foreman's upside.

New York Jets RB Braelon Allen may take a complimentary role to starter Breece Hall, but his upside is limited by Hall's elite talent, and he'll probably remain touchdown dependent to be fantasy relevant.

There aren't many options out there if you drafted a disappointing running back, so you may be hunting waivers for a while.
