BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine has delivered strong fantasy outings in each of his last two games. In Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, he carried the 11 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and he caught his only target in the passing game for 23 yards. His day was saved by a garbage time 46-yard touchdown score that gave the team a 41-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but luckily for Perine, fantasy points have no bias against meaningless scores.
Perine was forced to miss the team's Week 6 game as he tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the game and was unable to clear protocols beforehand. A week before that, he played a key role in the team's 25-22 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5. He carried the ball 11 times for 49 yards in the game and also caught four of his five targets for 24 yards and a touchdown.
The Bengals' No. 3 running back Chris Evans (hamstring) was limited to special teams work in Week 7 as he's dealing with a hamstring injury. He's shown some promise in the passing game this year (13.0 yards per reception), but he's only been given four carries so far this year.
Perine is the clear No. 2 back for the Bengals and with starting running back Joe Mixon routinely bothered by injuries, No. 2 back status in Cincinnati comes with a good amount of value. Perine is worth adding for anyone who needs running back depth in leagues of 12 teams or deeper. He's an especially valuable commodity for anyone who is rostering Mixon as Perine is a clear handcuff for the Bengals' starter.
