BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The only thing keeping Sam Darnold from getting rostered in many more teams and leagues than he currently is at is, obviously, his low-ceiling, no-risks-taken style of play. Darnold has been able to keep interceptions and fumbles (one) at bay for the four weeks he's been on the field, but of course, he's never connected for more than 15 passes nor a single touchdown in any of those individual outings.
Darnold had his best game of the year last Saturday after going 15-of-22 passing for 250 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions at all. Judging by his four games and the stat lines he produced, one can safely bet on Darnold reaching something approaching 14 completions for 170-200 yards, 1 TD, and no picks.
The veteran has improved on a weekly basis since returning from his injury, though. He's completed passes at a 57%, 58%, 61, and lastly 68% clip in his four weeks. He's gone from 120 yards to 225 and 250 in the last three weeks. He's completed 11, 14, 14, and finally 15 passes. And last Saturday he scored the second rushing touchdown of his season scrambling the rock six times for a total of 19 yards.
Darnold won't top 20 FP in the future unless he risks the biscuit a bit more than he's doing these days, though, cutting down his upside a bit. The Panthers are still in the race for the postseason and whatever Darnold is doing is definitely working for them as they have gone 3-1 with Sammy at the helm.
Probably more of a 2QB/Superflex option than anything else, but still a viable addition/starter for those hurting at the position and looking for reliable players that won't screw it all entirely and with little to no chances of getting benched ROS.
