Russell Wilson is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in Superflex Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 3% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t played this season because of a calf injury he suffered in training camp. The veteran was finally healthy last week, serving as the No. 2 quarterback behind Justin Fields in the Week 6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
While Fields has played well, leading, the Steelers have a 4-2 record, head coach Mike Tomlin told the media that Wilson would get first-team reps in practice this week. The veteran could make his season debut on Sunday night against the New York Jets, replacing Fields as the starting quarterback.

Tomlin has not named a starter all season. However, he will have to name one this week with both quarterbacks 100% healthy. Yet, fantasy players should plan ahead on the chance that Wilson gets his first start this year.
Fantasy players in superflex leagues should make Wilson one of their top priorities off the waiver wire this week. However, Wilson isn’t worth adding in standard-size single-quarterback leagues, even once named the starter.
