6 hours agoThe Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms with defensive lineman L.J. Collier and cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. on undisclosed one-year deals on Tuesday. Exclusive-rights free-agent defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter also signed his one-year tender. Collier played in a career-low eight games (zero starts) in his fourth season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 due to injury, and he finished with just seven tackles (three solo). The 27-year-old first-rounder in 2019 has accumulated 40 tackles (24 solo), three sacks, six tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and five passes defensed in 45 career games (16 starts) over his four NFL seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss
7 hours agoThe Dallas Cowboys will re-sign defensive end Dante Fowler to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a person with knowledge of the signing. The former third overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 finished with 27 tackles (22 solo), six sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits and two forced fumbles in 17 regular season games (no starts) in his first year in Big D in 2022. The 28-year-old played only 329 defensive snaps as a rotation pass-rusher for Dallas next to DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong and Micah Parsons. Expect Fowler to be used in a similar fashion on defense in 2023, which will make him a boom/bust fantasy asset in IDP leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins
7 hours agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed cornerback James Pierre to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday after they didn't tender him as a restricted free agent last week. Pierre will now return for his fourth year in Pittsburgh. After entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020, the 26-year-old defensive back has recorded 86 tackles (65 solo), two interceptions, eight passes defensed, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 50 games played (six starts). Pierre will continue to provide depth for the Steelers secondary while also contributing on special teams in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly
7 hours agoThe Atlanta Falcons are planning to host veteran free-agent defensive lineman Calais Campbell on a free-agent visit this week, according to sources. Campbell was recently released by the Baltimore Ravens, who have kept the door open for a potential return. The 15-year veteran had 65 solo tackles, 11 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 36 QB hits, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 41 games (40 starts) in the last three seasons for the Ravens. The 36-year-old six-time Pro Bowler is no longer in the prime of his career and will probably only play one more season in the NFL, but he'll bring valuable experience to the defensive line with whichever organization he joins in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
7 hours agoThe Athletic's Nick Kosmider writes that there's a good chance the Denver Broncos add a running back in this year's draft in order to stockpile offensive talent and provide insurance against a delayed return for Javonte Williams (knee). Denver has intriguing young talent with Tyreik McAllister, Damarea Crockett and Tyler Badie, while free-agent addition Samaje Perine has some experience as a lead back. If Williams isn't ready in Week 1, Perine could be the Broncos' lead back. Williams was a popular pick to break out in 2022, but a serious knee injury involving multiple torn ligaments set him back and will make him a bit of a risky selection in fall fantasy drafts in 2023. Perine will be a nice handcuff pick for Williams' managers in deeper leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Nick Kosmider
7 hours agoThe Dallas Cowboys agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent running back Ronald Jones on Tuesday after he visited with the team on Monday, according to a source. Jones spent last year with the Kansas City Chiefs after a four-year run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His best year came in 2020, when he had 192 carries for 978 yards and seven touchdowns for the Bucs. The 25-year-old was buried on the Chiefs' depth chart in 2022 and played in only six regular season games (zero starts), carrying the ball 17 times for 70 yards and one touchdown. Jones will have a chance for a much bigger role in 2023 behind Tony Pollard after Dallas let cut Ezekiel Elliott, but Jones' value will also depend on who the Cowboys add at the position through the draft next month.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN Dallas - Todd Archer
7 hours agoThe Los Angeles Chargers gave running back Austin Ekeler permission to seek a trade last week after contract-extension talks between the two sides went nowhere. "I think it's really important to put it out there that it's not like, 'Oh, I hate the Chargers and I need to get out of this organization, and I need to leave,'" Ekeler said. "That couldn't be further from the truth. I would like to stay if it was under the right circumstances." Ekeler signed a four-year, $24.5 million contract in 2020, and he's generated 3,195 scrimmage yards in the last two seasons in LA. He's due $6.25 million in base salary in 2023 and doesn't have any guarantees left. There's no timeline on when Ekeler might be traded, but the draft next month could be a soft deadline. The 27-year-old's $6.13 million average per year on his deal ranks 14th among RBs, yet he's a top-five fantasy back.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Green Light Podcast
7 hours agoBaltimore Ravens franchise-tagged quarterback Lamar Jackson is free to speak with other teams, and a representative for Jackson has contacted more than one team in an effort to spark negotiations aimed at a possible offer sheet, according to multiple sources. Jackson reportedly doesn't want a fully guaranteed contract, although he would still like up to $200 million or more in guarantees. One source said Jackson's representative is telling other teams that he is ready to move on from the Ravens. There haven't been any teams that have publicly stated their interest in signing Jackson away from Baltimore, and if a team chooses to do so, they'll have to give up two first-round picks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Pro Football Talk - Mike Florio
9 hours agoThe Minnesota Vikings agreed to re-sign defensive end Jonathan Bullard to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Bullard will return to Minnesota after producing 23 tackles (17 solo) and five tackles for loss in 12 games (seven starts) in 2022 in his first season with the team. The 29-year-old should be expected to continue serving in a depth role on the Vikings' defensive line in 2023, which makes him avoidable in IDP leagues. In his seven NFL seasons for the Vikings, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons, Bullard has posted 136 tackles (87 solo), 3.5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, five passes defensed and a forced fumble in 82 games (22 starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
10 hours agoThe Miami Dolphins are re-signing linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday. Van Ginkel has started 31 of the 56 games he's played in for the Dolphins over the last four years, and he decided to return to South Beach after taking a free-agent visit with the division-rival New England Patriots last week. He also had talks with the Las Vegas Raiders. A fifth-rounder in 2019, Van Ginkel lost his starting outside linebacker role after the Dolphins acquired Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos last year, but he still contributed on defense and finished with 47 tackles, one interception and half a sack. The 27-year-old has 181 tackles (23 for loss), 11 sacks, one interception and four forced fumbles in his NFL career, and he will provide valuable linebacker depth for Miami.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: SI.com - Alain Poupart
10 hours agoThe Carolina Panthers and head coach Frank Reich view running back Miles Sanders as a three-down back who can do it all. It's why the Panthers let D'Onta Foreman walk in free agency before signing Sanders to a four-year, $25.4 million deal last week. Carolina still has Chuba Hubbard in their backfield, but as of right now, it looks as though they plan to give Sanders as much work as he can handle. The 25-year-old was a disaster for fantasy managers in 2021, but he bounced back with his first 1,000-yard rushing season and 11 touchdowns on a career-high 259 carries in 17 regular season games (15 starts) for the Eagles last year, adding 20 receptions for 78 yards. Sanders' ultimate fantasy upside could hinge on how well Carolina's rookie quarterback fares, but it's a good sign that he'll be heavily involved on all three downs in his new home.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Charlotte Observer - Mike Kaye
10 hours agoLinebacker Dont'a Hightower announced his retirement from professional football on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday. "It's been a hell of a ride and a career beyond my wildest dreams. It's time to hang em up, from the bottom of my heart - thank you to everyone who played a part," Hightower wrote. The 33-year-old spent all nine of his NFL seasons playing for the New England Patriots, and he'll finish his career with 569 tackles (353 solo), 27 sacks, 43 tackles for loss, 67 QB hits, one interception, 18 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries (two returned for touchdowns) in 117 regular season games (114 starts). Hightower made two Pro Bowls in his career and also won three Super Bowl rings in New England.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Dont'a Hightower on Twitter
10 hours agoUniversity of Texas running back Bijan Robinson is taking a pre-draft visit to the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, according to a source. Robinson to the Eagles in this year's draft makes plenty of sense, although general manager Howie Roseman has never taken a running back in the first round of a draft. The 21-year-old is easily the No. 1 RB prospect in this year's class, and he's fully expected to come off the board in the first round. If the Eagles like him that much, Roseman will have to take his first RB in the first round. Philly let Miles Sanders walk in free agency, but they re-signed Boston Scott and also added Rashaad Penny. However, given Penny's extensive injury history, it would make sense for the Eagles to add some more insurance at the position.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
10 hours agoFormer Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie is signing an undisclosed deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, according to his agents. McKenzie was expected to have a much bigger year than he did with Buffalo in 2022 after veteran slot man Cole Beasley moved on. The 27-year-old finished last year with 42 catches on 65 targets for 423 yards and four touchdowns, and he added nine carries for 55 yards and an additional score on the ground in 15 regular season games (eight starts). Indy might be a nice landing spot for him on the inside, with Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce on the outside. As of right now, Gardner Minshew is the team's starting quarterback, but the Colts could also draft a signal-caller of the future in April.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - Adam Schefter
10 hours agoFree-agent linebacker Nicholas Morrow agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, according to a source. In his lone season with the Chicago Bears in 2022, Morrow had a career-best 116 tackles (83 solo), 11 tackles for loss and an interception in 17 starts. The 27-year-old is a nice addition to the middle of the Eagles defense after they already lost some key defenders in free agency last week. While Morrow won't be a popular player in IDP fantasy drafts, he should at least be worth looking at as a streaming option again in 2023. In his five NFL seasons with the Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, Morrow has 370 tackles (268 solo), four sacks, 31 tackles for loss, 15 QB hits, three interceptions, 22 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 79 games (46 starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
