Zay Jones 2022 Outlook: Ascending Playmaker Joins Revamped Offense With Unproven QB
2 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars made it a point to add weapons to their wide receiver room this offseason to give quarterback Trevor Lawrence some more ammunition to make a Year 2 leap. Christian Kirk was their big-ticket free-agent signing, but they also added Zay Jones, who had 61 receptions (90 targets) for 700 yards and two touchdowns in 33 games the last two years with the Las Vegas Raiders. Most of that production came in 2021, when he had 47 receptions for 546 yards and one score. The 27-year-old should open the year as the No. 3 wideout for Lawrence behind Kirk and veteran Marvin Jones Jr., but the former second-rounder could also face competition from Laviska Shenault Jr. Jones' stock is trending up, but his production will likely be sporadic, inconsistent and unpredictable in an offense with a still-developing signal-caller. He'll probably go undrafted in standard-sized fantasy leagues, but he's worth a late-round flier in deeper formats.
