Zach Plesac To Make Another Rehab Start
3 years agoCleveland Indians starting pitcher Zach Plesac (thumb) is scheduled to make his second rehab start for Double-A Akron on Saturday. Plesac is rehabbing a fractured thumb but went just 1 1/3 frames in his first rehab start, so he needs to be built back up to a starter's workload before he can return to the Tribe's rotation. The Indians desperately need Plesac and others back for the second half, but they won't rush him. The 26-year-old right-hander holds a 4.14 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 38/12 K/BB in 10 starts (58 2/3 innings) this year, but his career-low 16 percent strikeout rate has been concerning after he had a 27.7 percent K rate in 2020 when he also produced a dazzling 2.28 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 55 1/3 innings. Plesac probably won't be that good when he returns, but he's still worth taking a chance on.
