Yoshitomo Tsutsugo Will Be Used Primarily As Left Fielder
5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays current plan is to use Yoshitomo Tsutsugo as a left fielder, but he'll also be a designated hitter and will work at first base this spring. The Rays are looking forward to acclimating the Japanese power hitter in spring training, but his biggest adjustment will be with the increase in velocity and the different movement of major league pitches. Tsutsugo hit 29 home runs in Japan last season and could be a difference-maker from the left side for the Rays. However, playing-time concerns are the biggest road block for fantasy owners trying to decide when to take him in drafts. Until we know more about how much he might play, he's tough to recommend in shallow mixed leagues. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 97 fantasy outfielder.
