Yankees Eyeing Joey Gallo?
3 years agoThe New York Yankees have consistently been eyeing Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo, who is among the best position players mentioned regularly as available in this trade market with the last-place Rangers looking to rebuild. Since the sticky stuff crackdown in baseball, Gallo has the second-best OPS (1.276), behind only Shohei Ohtani. Gallo also has 15 home runs and more walks (32) than strikeouts (31) in that span. Washington Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber, who recently went on the injured list with a strained hamstring, is another left-handed slugger that the Yankees could target at the deadline. The Yankees need more lefty hitters in their lineup, and either Gallo or Schwarber would achieve that while also bringing game-changing pop. Gallo is under team control through 2022, while Schwarber is on a one-year deal with Washington in 2021.
