Yandy Diaz Out Due To Personal Matter
5 months agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz will not play to start the second half of the season on Friday in the Bronx against the division-rival New York Yankees due to a personal matter. With Diaz away from the team, Isaac Paredes will move across the diamond to first base and will bat second, while Jose Caballero will man the hot corner and bat eighth against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole. Richie Palacios is at second base and is batting leadoff for the Rays. It remains to be seen when Diaz will be back in Tampa's starting lineup, so fantasy managers will want to check back on Saturday before returning him to their starting lineups. The 32-year-old could be on the trade block this summer with the Rays falling out of contention. Diaz is a must-start when he's active and hit .273 (104-for-381) with eight homers, 46 RBI and 35 runs scored in 94 games in the first half.
