Yadier Molina Seeking Contract Extension?
5 years agoSources have intimated that St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina could be seeking an extension to his contract and would be willing to take a pay cut from his current $20 million per season. It was believed that the final year of Molina's current contract in 2020 would be his final in the majors, but that could change if he reaches an extension with the Red Birds. The 37-year-old doesn't have a ton left with the bat at this point in his career, but he remains a fine defensive backstop and is a fan favorite. He hit .270/.312/.399 with 10 home runs and 57 RBI in his 419 at-bats last season. You definitely shouldn't expect a return to the 20-homer mark, something he's done just twice in his career.
