White Sox Designate Declan Cronin For Assignment
12 months agoThe Chicago White Sox have designated relief pitcher Declan Cronin for assignment. The right-hander was a 36th-round pick of the White Sox in the 2019 draft and made his MLB debut for the club in the 2023 season, working to a 9.00 ERA across nine appearances and 11 innings of work. He has largely fared much better in the minors as he owns a 3.81 ERA across 151 appearances in the minors since turning pro in the 2019 season. The White Sox needed to clear a 40-man roster spot after signing reliever Tim Hill to a one-year deal and it's Cronin who is the roster casualty. The 26-year-old has enough of a minor-league pedigree to latch on with another club ahead of the 2024 campaign.
