Walker Buehler Looks To Make Splash In 2018
7 years agoWalker Buehler showed flashes of why he’s the top Dodgers pitching prospect immediately upon his call-up in September. The former first-round pick has been slowly returning from Tommy John surgery and got his taste of the bigs out of the bullpen. He struck out 12 batters in nine innings, using his upper-90s fastball and three other above-average pitches. But the 23-year-old was also undoubtedly nervous, as evidenced by his eight walks. He’ll be back to starting and throwing more innings in 2018. He'll likely start the year in Triple-A. The Dodgers have other serviceable starters so a call-up before mid-season is unlikely unless they fall behind in their division. Buehler looks like a star and is worth a stash in redraft leagues with bench space. He could be a difference-maker down the stretch.
