Walker Buehler 2021 Outlook: Locked-In Ace
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler got off to an expectedly slow start in 2020. He was one of the players who suffered from the inability to get a full dose of spring training before the regular season finally began and was brought along slowly by the club. Buehler made his first appearance in the team's fifth game, lasting 3 2/3 innings. He would only go as long as six IP once all season. An IL stint due to a blister further conspired to limit Buehler's workload. All told, it was a letdown for fantasy managers despite a strong final stat line that included a 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 28.6% strikeout rate due to a light workload and lesser counting stats. Buehler is entering his age-26 season, has no health concerns, and has the support of baseball's best lineup. If he can enter the 2021 MLB season with some semblance of normalcy, he should finish as a top-five starter and is absolutely worth the top-20 pick it will take to secure his services.
