Vaughn Grissom Called Up By Braves
1 year agoThe Atlanta Braves called up infielder Vaughn Grissom from the minors on Tuesday to replace second baseman Ozzie Albies (hamstring) on the active roster after he was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring. Grissom began the year with Atlanta before being sent to the minors in May. In his 19 games with the Braves, he had gone 18-for-65 (.277) with no homers, two doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored. The 22-year-old is expected to share playing time at the keystone with Nicky Lopez on the short side of a platoon. At Triple-A Gwinnett, Grissom hit .327/.412/.494 with six homers, 50 RBI, 11 steals and 65 runs scored in 88 games. He's worth a short-term pickup in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues for as long as Albies is sidelined.
