Tyquan Thornton May Be Falling Off
Tyquan Thornton has struggled early in training camp and missed two of the three padded practices last week for unknown reasons, so he may be falling off in the team's eyes. Meanwhile, sixth-round rookie Demario Douglas has shined since the start of camp. Thornton and Douglas appear to be splitting first-team repetitions evenly, and it could be a sign of a position battle for the No. 4 receiver job and main speed threat. It looks like the coaching staff trusts Douglas, as they continue to increase his workload as camp goes on. While Thornton is trending down, it's unlikely that the Pats are in a rush to give up on him after he was the 50th overall pick just two years ago. The 23-year-old has blazing speed, but he had just 22 catches for 247 yards and two TDs in 13 games in 2022.
