Tyler Mahle Effective In First Start Of The Season
4 months agoTexas Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle (elbow) made his first start of the season on Tuesday night vs the Houston Astros. He was quite effective, allowing one earned run, five hits, and two walks while striking out two over five innings. Mahle threw 49 out of his 76 pitches for strikes. Mahle signed with the Texas Rangers this past offseason and has been recovering from elbow surgery. The 29-year-old righty has a career ERA of 4.28 and WHIP of 1.30 in 640 2/3 IP. Throughout his career, he has been a reliable back end of the rotation starter and should remain as such for the remainder of the season. He is available in 80% of Yahoo! fantasy baseball leagues, but that number may get much smaller pretty quickly after Tuesday's performance. Mahle will look to build on Tuesday's outing in his next start on the road Monday against the Boston Red Sox.
