Tyler Glasnow Adding A New Pitch
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is adding a new pitch -- a slider/cutter -- to his arsenal for the 2021 season. Already considered a strong SP2 for fantasy managers with plenty of upside in his right arm at 27 years old, Glasnow took a slight step back in 2020 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, but he had an xFIP of 2.75 and was dominant in 60 innings in 2019 (1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 33 percent strikeout rate). It's also encouraging that his strikeout rate jumped to 38.2 percent last season. The knock on the right-hander is that there was little room for error as a two-pitch hurler, so adding a third pitch could really take him to that next level. There is some injury risk, but Glasnow is a fine target as your second fantasy starter at an ADP of 51.
