Tucker Barnhart Gives Up Switch-Hitting
5 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart will hit exclusively from the left side moving forward after switch-hitting his entire career. Barnhart, 29, batted exclusively from the left side over the final month of the 2019 season. He hit .231/.328/.380 with 11 home runs and 40 RBI in 114 total games last season, hitting .247 from the left side against righties and only .150 from the right side against left-handers. Barnhart hit much better after missing a month in the summer with a right oblique strain. He's been the primary catcher since 2016, but it remains to be seen how the playing time will be split between he and Curt Casali. Barnhart should only be owned in two-catcher or NL-only leagues, especially if he sees less time behind the plate in 2020.
