Triston Casas Likely Done For The Year
1 year agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (shoulder) is unlikely to play again in 2023. He is still being checked by doctors, but regardless of the specifics regarding his right-shoulder injury, the Red Sox see no need to rush him back in a lost season. Although it was a disappointing year overall for the BoSox with another finish outside of the playoffs, it was a strong first full major-league season for Casas. The 23-year-old young left-handed hitter served as Boston's regular starting first baseman and finished with a .263/.367/.490 slash line, an .856 OPS, 24 home runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 65 RBI and 66 runs scored in 502 plate appearances over 132 games played. In 13 starts in September before being shut down, he went 13-for-49 (.265) with three homers, two doubles, 12 RBI and eight runs scored.
