Trey Sermon Won't Play Against Seattle
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers rookie running back Trey Sermon (ankle) has been officially ruled out for this Sunday's game against the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. Sermon sprained his right ankle in the Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings and will miss his first game due to injury this season. The 22-year-old's injury is serious enough that he might be placed on Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss two additional games. Many thought Sermon might have a big role in his rookie year when Raheem Mostert suffered a season-ending injury early on, but it's been rookie Elijah Mitchell, not Sermon, that has taken over the team's lead-back duties in 2021. Sermon should be a bigger part of the offense in 2022, but he'll merely be a dynasty/keeper stash the rest of this year.
