Trevor Story Will Be The Shortstop When He Returns
2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora reiterated on Wednesday that middle infielder Trevor Story (elbow) will be the starting shortstop when he returns. It remains to be seen when Story will return while he continues to recover from an internal bracing procedure of the UCL in his right elbow. The 30-year-old veteran hasn't played a big-league game since Sept. 11 of last year, although he recently resumed swinging a bat and throwing earlier in May. As long as he doesn't suffer a setback, Story figures to return to starting duties at the 6 in Beantown at some point in the second half of the season. Adalberto Mondesi (knee) also remains on the injured list for Boston, so Enrique Hernandez has been the club's primary shortstop to this point in the season.
