Training Camps Could Open In Mid-July
5 years agoThe NFL "has floated the idea" that training camps could start as early as mid-July in order to give players a chance to get back into football shape after an offseason of virtual work. The league and player's union is recommending an acclimation period before camp, but it's uncertain how long that might be. The NFL and NFLPA are also discussing the possibility of allowing certain players -- rookie and veterans who changed teams and need physicals -- to return to team facilities on a limited basis before June 26, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Some coaches were allowed back in the facilities last Friday, so things are slowly starting to get back to normal for the league. While fans may not be allowed in stadiums to begin the year, the start of the 2020 league schedule might not be impacted by COVID-19.
