Japanese right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano may not agree to a deal with an MLB club before Thursday's 5 pm ET deadline. Instead, Sugano could return to the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball after the Giants offered him a four-year deal with opt-out clauses after each season. He is not budging on his asking price in the States, so interested teams such as the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays will have to meet his terms to sign him for the 2021 season. The New York Mets had been in touch with Sugano, but their main focus is elsewhere, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported on Monday. Sugano has gone 101-50 with a 2.34 ERA in his career in Japan, and the 31-year-old could become a big part of the front end of a rotation in the big leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
