Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren is set to miss a minimum of six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery. The team is set to place him on Long-Term Injured Reserve for the start of the season. The 23-year-old has just finished off his first proper season in the league, putting together a solid 23-point campaign in 64 games with a plus-15 rating. Liljegren signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract extension during the offseason. Toronto picked up Victor Mete and Jordie Benn over the summer for added defensive depth and it looks like they could be needed already at the start of the season, especially with restricted free agent Rasmus Sandin still unsigned.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
