Texans Re-Sign Neville Hewitt
2 years agoThe Houston Texans re-signed linebacker Neville Hewitt to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Hewitt will be returning to the Texans for his third season after finishing last year with 14 tackles (10 solo) in 14 games played (zero starts). Most of the 30-year-old's playing time came on special teams. Originally an undrafted free agent, Hewitt began his NFL career in 2015 with the Miami Dolphins and played three years with them before joining the New York Jets from 2018-20. He's likely to continue mainly as a special-teams contributor, so he won't have any value in IDP fantasy leagues. Hewitt has racked up 426 tackles (276 solo), 7.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, 19 QB hits, three interceptions, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his eight seasons in the league.
