Tarik Cohen 2018 Outlook: Offensive Swiss Army Knife
6 years agoTo give you an idea of what I think of Tarik Cohen, consider that if he and Kamara witched teams and all other things remained equal, I believe Cohen could perform just as well as Kamara. Cohen has excellent straight line speed and superb hands, which is in stark contrast to the flippers worn by teammate Jordan Howard. Cohen only carried the ball 87 times last year, a number that should see a modest increase to over 100. More importantly, Cohen should see a significant spike in targets. He had just 71 last season, which, given the fact that 21 of them came over his first two games, is a huge indictment on John Fox and his inability to...well...do anything right. Fox is now gone, replaced by Matt Nagy, a much more offensive minded head coach. The primary difference between Kamara and Cohen is that Sean Payton uses Kamara in a way to maximize his ability. Cohen is now in a situation where he may benefit from the same thing. Nagy has already talked up Cohen and how he wants to use him all over the formation. Cohen should easily push 100 targets and is a contender to finish amongst the league leaders in RB receptions. I would say an RB2 finish is not only possible, but likely in PPR formats. Cohen is an ideal target in the late single digit rounds and a perfect Zero RB candidate. At their respective costs, I much prefer Cohen to Howard and would not be shocked if Cohen was flat out the more productive back.
