Steven Matz Placed On DL
6 years agoThe New York Mets placed starting pitcher Steven Matz (arm) on the 10-day disabled list on Friday with a flexor pronator strain. In a corresponding move, pitcher Corey Oswalt was called up from the minors to take Matz's spot in the rotation on Sunday against the Braves. Matz's injury isn't serious, so he may not miss much time. He hasn't been good of late, but perhaps the injury was to blame. Oswalt has a 5.27 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings over six outings (five starts) in the majors this year. He makes for a very poor streaming option against Atlanta this weekend.
