Starling Marte To Take Live BP On Thursday
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (groin) is scheduled to take live batting practice on the field in spring training on Thursday. It's a good sign that Marte is progressing on pace. According to sources, the Mets already know what Marte's spring schedule is going to be and when he'll get into his first game. Barring any sort of setbacks in camp, the Mets are optimistic that the veteran outfielder will be ready for Opening Day. The 34-year-old had surgery to fix separated tendons from both sides of his groin last November. He also played through an injured finger late in the season and playoffs. Despite the injuries, Marte hit .292/.347/.468 with an .814 OPS 16 home runs, 63 RBI, 76 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 118 games. He should run more with better health, and fantasy managers should consider him a top-25 outfielder with some injury risk.
