Shoto Imanaga To Be Posted This Offseason
1 year agoJapanese left-hander Shoto Imanaga will be posted by the Yokohama DeNA BayStars after the 2023 season, according to sources. The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the top starting pitchers in Japan since reaching Nippon Professional Baseball in 2016, and he had a career year in 2023 with an 8.21 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It's not a guarantee that he'll sign with a major-league team because he's being posted, but industry sources view it as likely given his abilities and the overall demand for pitching. Imanaga went 7-4 with a 2.57 ERA in 20 starts for the BayStars this year and threw a no-hitter last year. In his three outings (one starts) for Japan in this year's World Baseball Classic, he allowed two runs and struck out seven in six innings. The Yankees, Dodgers and Cardinals are among the notable MLB teams with rotation vacancies to fill this winter.
