Sean Murphy Reaches Bases Four Times in Matinee
Sean Murphy went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in the first game of their doubleheader with the Philadelphia Phillies -- a 5-4 loss. The former third-round pick also singled, scored, and walked twice. Murphy wasn't available in the latter half of the twin-billing, but he was plenty productive earlier in the day. He crushed his ninth homer of the season in that one -- a solo shot that he deposited 412 feet over the left-center-field wall off Phillies reliever Matt Strahm. He also singled in a run two innings prior. The 30-year-old has slowed down some in May, batting just .204 (11-for-54) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI, and three runs scored. It's a far cry from the seven long balls he launched in April.
