Seahawks Fire Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer
4 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks fired offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer on Tuesday despite the offense setting a number of franchise records in 2020. However, it was evident that Schottenheimer and head coach Pete Carroll had their philosophical differences, with a parting of ways in the best interests of both sides. Schottenheimer had been with the club for the last three years before previously serving as the quarterbacks coach with the Colts and as an offensive coordinator with the Rams and Jets. Quarterback Russell Wilson was cooking and the offense was lighting up the scoreboard through the first five weeks, but turnovers became an issue and the offense scored 30-plus points just once after doing so in seven of their first eight games. Carroll mentioned just Monday that he'd prefer the team to run more in 2021.
