San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet (biceps) departed his start Friday versus San Francisco early, throwing his availability for the Wild Card series, which begins Wednesday, into doubt. But the club is optimistic that he will be able to pitch through any soreness, which they will not know more about until Lamet throws again Sunday during a bullpen session. Check back after that to get an idea of where Lamet stands, as any injury to his elbow -- which he has already had Tommy John surgery on -- would surely sideline him for a considerable period.--Jesse Borek
