Sammy Watkins 2021 Outlook: Little Appeal in Low-Volume Passing Attack
4 years agoSammy Watkins signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Ravens after spending the last three seasons in Kansas City. He goes from one of the most prolific passing attacks to the team that attempted the least amount of passes per game (25.9) a season ago. The Ravens also spent a first-round pick on Rashod Bateman to pair with Marquise Brown. Add tight end Mark Andrews to the fold and Watkins finds himself likely fourth in the pecking order, at best, for targets on a team that doesn't want to throw the ball a whole lot. He's also dealt with a number of injuries throughout his seven-year career, not having played all 16 games since his rookie season in 2014. Watkins shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a deep league bench stash in 2021.
