Samaje Perine Injures Ankle, Exits Early
7 years agoWashington Redskins running back Samaje Perine rushed just twice for three yards before injuring his ankle and missed the remainder of Sunday's loss to the Giants. It was a disappointing end to the season for the rookie runner who showed some promise as a between-the-tackles grinder for a short time after Rob Kelley was placed on Injured Reserve midseason. Perine should be considered the favorite for early-down work heading into 2018, but head coach Jay Gruden has alluded to the fact that the Redskins have a lot of different guys at running back who can play, suggesting Perine could still have some competition. We'd tentatively expect Chris Thompson to be the better fantasy pick, at least in PPR formats in 2018.
