Sam Coonrod Shut Down From Throwing
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Sam Coonrod (elbow) has been shut down from throwing for three days and still feels something in his right elbow. Coonrod went on the injured list on June 25 with tendinitis in his right forearm, but this could be a far worse development. With no current timetable for a return, it's possible that Coonrod may not be able to return later this season. The 28-year-old right-hander had a 4.18 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, two saves, seven holds and a 30/10 K/BB in 28 innings before he landed on the injured list. Coonrod wasn't much of an option before the injury, even in deep saves/holds leagues, and the Philadelphia bullpen has been a tough place to navigate once again in 2021.
