Ryan Preece begins Sunday's race on the mile-long track from the 25th position. Preece and his Stewart-Haas Racing car could not maintain enough speed coming out. He was not the only one as every SHR qualified 15th or worse. That included Kevin Harvick who has finished 19 straight occasions in the top ten. The short-track package seemed to hurt the Ford's, but cars like Preece's more. He lost several tenths of a second in his practice intervals especially when going from five to ten laps.
