Royce Lewis 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: ADP Suggests Healthy Season For Lewis, History Suggests Otherwise
12 months agoMinnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis was the No. 1 overall pick in 2017, but injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential. After playing zero games in 2020 due to the COVID-cancelled minor league season, a torn ACL in 2021 also caused him to miss that whole season. Lewis made his MLB debut in 2022 before tearing the same ACL 12 games in. He made his long-awaited return in late May of 2023 before a hamstring injury caused him to miss another month and a half. Lewis has been productive when healthy, slashing .307/.549/.913 with 17 HR, 57 RBI, 41 runs, and 6 SB over 70 regular season games (280 PA). If Lewis can stay healthy, those numbers extrapolated over 600 PA would look like 36 HR/122 RBI/88 R/13 SB. He showed he was back to full health last postseason, collecting five hits, four of which were homers. RotoBaller ranks him as 69th overall, but his current NFBC ADP of around 45th suggests managers anticipate a fully healthy season from the Twins' shortstop. Any missed time may result in Lewis not returning value at that ADP, so interested managers should take caution based on Lewis' inability to stay on the field. FGDC projects a .270-27-88-79-13 season for the 24-year-old with a .350 WOBA and 125 wRC+.
