Royce Freeman Has Only Three Touches Against Raiders
4 years agoDenver Broncos running back Royce Freeman carried the ball twice for 21 yards (10.5 yards per carry) and caught his lone target in the passing game for one yard in the 32-31 loss to the division-rival Raiders in the Week 17 regular season finale. It was a disappointing finish to the year the last two weeks with Phillip Lindsay on Injured Reserve, as Freeman saw just four carries for 37 yards against the Chargers and Raiders. Denver gave Melvin Gordon III a season-high 26 carries on Sunday. He was barely used as the team's third-string back behind Gordon and Lindsay all year, seeing just 35 carries for 170 yards in 16 games. There's a chance that Freeman could have a bigger role behind Gordon in 2021 with Lindsay being a restricted free agent, but even if Lindsay leaves, Freeman would likely be just a weak handcuff for those that roster Gordon.
