5 years agoThe Kansas City Royals have emerged as the favorites to sign third baseman Maikel Franco, and a deal could be done soon, according to a source. Once a top prospect for the Phillies, Franco disappointed in 2019 by hitting only .234/.297/.409 with 17 home runs and 56 RBI in his 123 games for Philly. His home runs have dropped each year since he slugged 25 round-trippers in 2016, and too much swing and miss in his game has lowered his fantasy ceiling at the hot corner. Franco should get a chance to play every day with the rebuilding Royals if he signs with them, and he could rebound as a late-round value pick for corner infield depth in mixed leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
