Ronny Mauricio Making MLB Debut Against Seattle
1 year agoNew York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio is making his major-league debut on Friday against the visiting Seattle Mariners, playing second base and batting in the nine-hole. Batting ninth isn't great news for the 22-year-old's DFS value in his first MLB game, but he should play pretty regularly down the stretch for the out-of-contention Mets. The Dominican switch-hitter got the call-up with rosters expanding after hitting .292 (143-for-490) with 23 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored in 116 games for Triple-A Syracuse. He can play pretty much anywhere on the diamond and is worth a waiver-wire pickup in deeper fantasy leagues. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has impressive power that he derives from his 6-foot-3 frame.
