Ronald Acuna May Stay In Leadoff Spot
6 years agoThe Atlanta Braves may move outfielder Ronald Acuna to the cleanup spot this year, but manager Brian Snitker said Acuna may still get his wish and remain atop the lineup. Outfielder Ender Inciarte struggled in the leadoff spot in the first half last year, and Acuna thrived when he was moved to leadoff in the second half. Acuna hit .328 with 19 home runs and a 1.042 OPS in over 301 plate appearances when hitting first on his way to National League Rookie of the Year. "If it was up to me personally, I'd like to stay in the leadoff spot, simply because I like hitting there," Acuna said. "But obviously those types of decisions are out of my control. The only thing I can control is to work hard and do my best." The young phenom would have more chances to drive in runs hitting cleanup, but he'd receive more plate appearances and probably run more if he's hitting leadoff. Either way, he's a top-15 fantasy talent with major upside.
