Rockies Reach Agreement With Mike Moustakas
2 years agoThe Colorado Rockies reached a non-roster agreement with free-agent infielder Mike Moustakas on Sunday after he was released by the Cincinnati Reds in January. It's a minor-league deal for Moustakas. According to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, Colorado's current plan is for Moustakas to play second base with Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) likely out for the season, which would allow Ryan McMahon to remain at third base. Moustakas is fully healthy after being limited to only 78 games with the Reds last year due to injuries. The 34-year-old veteran was underwhelming in those games, hitting .214/.295/.345 with a .640 OPS, seven homers, 25 RBI and 30 runs scored. Even with more potential playing time in a very hitter-friendly home park, fantasy managers shouldn't have high expectations for Moose.
