Robby Anderson Proving To Be More Than A Deep Threat
4 years agoCarolina Panthers wide receiver Robby Anderson is off to the best start of his NFL career in his first year with the Panthers. And he's no longer just a deep threat because of his elite speed, but a complete wide receiver. Anderson ranks third among receivers with 36 catches entering Week 6, and he's fourth in receiving yards (489) and first in yards after the catch (223). He also has an impressive catch rate of 76.6 percent, especially since he came into the year with an average catch rate of 55 percent. Anderson has become more of a possession receiver with his new team, with more than half of his routes having a maximum depth of less than 10 yards. The former Jet has been a top-six WR through five weeks of the season (with only one touchdown) and ranks eighth in the NFL with his 48 targets. Even in a really tough matchup with the Bears Defense in Week 6, Anderson needs to be in lineups as a WR2.
