Robby Anderson 2018 Outlook: Off-Field Issues Could Hurt On-Field Numbers
6 years agoAnderson’s breakout 2017 campaign, which was filled with highlight reel catches and terrific touchdowns, put him on the fantasy map as he supplied 941 receiving yards and seven scores. He seemed poised to break the 1,000-yard barrier this upcoming season, but off-field issues and new additions to the Jets receiving corps might hold him under that mark. There is a chance Anderson could get suspended for some games due to a pair of arrests that happened during the past calendar year. The NFL is still reviewing his situation, so fantasy owners that draft Anderson have to weigh the risk of a surprise suspension that could rob them from using him for a couple weeks.
Anderson is going to have to battle for targets with Jets No. 2 WR Jermaine Kearse, former 1,000-yard man Terrelle Pryor, and the returning-from-injury Quincy Enunwa. He also has to prove he is the same guy who racked up 418 yards and six touchdowns over a five-game stretch last year and not the player who finished the season sourly with 120 yards and zero touchdowns over the final four games --- when fantasy owners needed him the most. Anderson has the potential for 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns if everything breaks right, but could end up with 600 yards and four touchdowns if things break wrong.
