RILEY GREENE 2022 PLAYER OUTLOOK: TOP PROSPECT SHOULD EXCEL WHEN HEALTHY
3 years agoRiley Greene was poised to make the Tigers roster to start the season following a sterling Spring in which he hit .429/.400/.1.048 in 11 games (21 at-bats). Of his nine hits, seven went for extra bases with three doubles, two triples and two homers. That was coming on the back of an excellent Minor League season where Greene played 124 games across Double-A and Triple-A, hitting .301/.387/.534 with 24 homers and 16 steals. On the 20-80 grading scale (with 50 being MLB average), MLB Pipeline has Greene rated as 60 for hitting, 60 for power and 50 for running, being ranked as the number five prospect in baseball. His Minor League numbers and scouting report confirm that Greene was a potential 20/20 player in fantasy this year but alas, a fractured foot means he'll have to wait to make his MLB debut. The early reports have Greene set to miss 6-8 weeks so providing there are no setbacks, a late May return is in play. The expectation was for Greene to be the Tigers starting center fielder to begin the season and with a solid-looking lineup around him, Greene could have been a contributor in all five main hitting categories. If you drafted him, Greene should make a nice IL stash and should still get the chance to be a regular in the Tigers outfield once healthy. With an ADP of ~317, Greene was the ~81st outfielder taken in drafts. When healthy, Greene has the potential to be a top-50 outfielder from June onwards.
