Rick Porcello Struggles Through Five Innings
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello lasted just five innings after allowing three runs on three hits, while walking four and striking out three in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Philadelphia. The righty needed 100 pitches in the outing that brought his record down to 11-10. August has been one of Porcello's best this year. Through four starts he's 2-2 with a 4.09 ERA and a 13/8 K/BB over 22 innings. Unfortunately for Boston, he now has to act as the staff ace due to a season-ending injury to Chris Sale. However, you can stay far away from Porcello in his next outing, as the Red Sox travel to Coors Field to take on the Rockies. He's given up 26 homers already this year, and that number will likely rise in his start next Tuesday.
