Reds Send Tony Santillan Down
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds optioned starting pitcher Tony Santillan to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday and recalled right-hander Ashton Goudeau from Louisville in a corresponding move. Santillan has a decent 3.78 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 20/10 K/BB in his four starts covering 16 2/3 innings this year, but his 5.43 FIP and bloated 5.4 BB/9 were issues. The Reds decided they had seen enough for now after he allowed two earned runs and six hits while striking out four and walking two in just three innings in a loss to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old could be back at some point in the second half. Goudeau should serve in a low-leverage relief role for Cincinnati and can be ignored by fantasy managers.
