Reds Hope Nick Senzel Will Be Ready For Spring Training
2 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (toe) had surgery for a broken bone in his toe last month and continues to use a scooter to get around. However, the Reds are hopeful that Senzel will be ready for the start of spring training next year. Despite his struggles early in his career, he remains the top internal choice to start in center field in 2023, although the Reds have inquired on some free-agent center fielders. "He's done a great job of taking care of himself," manager David Bell said of Senzel. "He looks really good. I mean, it's tough for anyone to manage their weight and their physical conditioning when you can't run or do anything, so I give him a lot of credit." Jake Fraley and TJ Friedl will be left-handed hitting options to fill Cincy's outfield next year alongside right-handed hitters Stuart Fairchild and Nick Solak.
